NILs are interest free loans. That means there are no fees, no charges and no interest. You only pay back the loan amount received.

What can a NILs loan be used for?
NILs allows you to borrow up to $2,000 for the cost of essential goods and services including:
For example, a fridge or washing machine.
For example, medical and dental costs.
For example, school activities and uniforms.
For example, house repairs and hot water tank.
Vehicle and Transport
For example, car registration and car repairs.
What can a NILs loan NOT be used for?
No Interest Loans are NOT paid to your bank account and NO cash payment.
The loan funds are paid directly to the store OR the service provider.
Repayments:
The loans are interest free, there are no fees, and repayments are set at an affordable amount over a period of up to 24 months.
How does it work?
To qualify for the NILS loan, you need to be:
Receiving Centrelink benefit(s)
OR
Earning [for single] $70K ($57K net) or [for couple/individual with dependents] $100k ($75K net)
Additional exceptional circumstances can be considered and people that have experienced family violence can have loan limits extended.

Once approved a payment plan is worked out that works for you. Loans are repaid over a 24 month period and repayment plans are tailored to suit individual circumstances.
